This is my birthday week and it’s a significant one. There were times I wasn’t sure I’d see this age, and every day I’m here, I’m grateful. As I enter into a new era in my personal life, I’m also stepping into a new season of my creativity. I’m still creating animals and still plan to do flowers, however I’ve been working on more intuitive abstract paintings. I’ve also been weaving on a loom and love the therapeutic experience. I can see why so many people love it! Soon, I’ll be working on a large piece for my home to go into my foyer space. I’ve learned that I drawn to creating spaces as much as individual pieces. There never seems to be enough time to create, and I always have new ideas I want to try, and new spaces I want to play with.
That’s where I always want to be. When I’m either creating or daydreaming, I feel the most alive. Oftentimes, life gets in the way of the fun stuff. But, we have to MAKE time for the fun stuff, because there’s always endless responsibilities: dog vet visits, home chores, haircuts, groceries, dentists…but we can only truly live if we do what we are wired to do. I’m wired to make things, to beautify spaces, and to inspire. If I find I’m spending too much time on the “to do” list and not enough time on the “get to do” list, I find myself grumpy, tired, and uninspired.
What about you? Are you making time for the thing that lights you up? I encourage you to do one thing this week for you. It really helps those around us too. 😉
If you love my work, don’t hesitate to reach out and let me know. We do our own printing of paper prints and canvases, and can get you anything printed on metal too.
